Gakenke: Ndi Umunyarwanda Initiative not political but harmony-Governor
The popular initiative ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’ main objective is to bring Rwandans together, to promote harmony, truth and forgives and not a political instrument; Governor Aime Bosenibamwe told residents on Monday 27th Jan 2014
The Northern Province Governor Bosenibamwe was addressing residents’ assembly during Ndi Umunyarwanda campaign presentations that brought together local leaders and opinion leaders of Gakenke sector in Gakenke district on Monday.
“Ndi Umunyarwanda is not a political instrument but a way of making Rwandans understand who they are and ditch their ethnic differences. Campaigns that will make Rwandans understand that they are one nation, culture and nothing of a difference.” explained the governor.
In the Ndi Umunyarwanda programme, Rwandans reveal and tell the truth about what happened in the 1994 genocide against Tutsis. Those who are guilty ask for forgiveness and the victims feel relieved that they forgive. It is considered as the therapy for both victims and perpetrators.
People who were in the presentation in Gakenke sector said the ethnic differences that former government encouraged among Rwandans based on physical appearances led to the 1994 genocide against Tutsis should be discouraged completely.
