National Conference on Access to Justice in pipeline
The Legal Aid Forum (LAF) in Rwanda is upbeat on the upcoming National Conference on Access to Justice with a focus on the state of legal aid in Rwanda. The conference dates are due to be announced soon.
The Conference took stock of the situation of legal aid as it is to date in Rwanda. LAF also invited heads of legal aid programmes in the region (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania) to share with us their best practices in this area.
Officials of LAF said that the conference is part of the forum’s is committed to continue promoting the provision of legal aid services to the indigents and vulnerable groups and to advocate for the creation of an enabling environment for the provision of equitable access to justice in Rwanda.
Athanase Rutabingwa, the President of Kigali Bar Association, said that the conference will be a time to share experiences and legal practitioners contribution will be highly essential
The Legal Aid Forum has 37 member organizations engaged in the provision of legal aid services to the indigent population and vulnerable groups in Rwanda, comprising of 24 local organisations, one regional and four international organization, in addition to faith based organizations and trade unions.
