Gisagara: Good governance month addresses problems
A lot of projects done in different sectors of Gisagara district, during the good governance month solved many problems for the community.
The projects included; visiting 12 families with conflict,7 of which came to agreement.
In Mamba sector, land conflicts were solved especially the case of the people who fled the country in 1959; later their lands were given to people who were coming back to the country after the 1994 genocide against Tutsi including the Burundians. When the Burundians went back to their country, the lands were given to people but now more than 3 people claim the same plot of land as theirs.
Some of the people whom their problems were solved appreciate the good governance month and the help it offered them and wished this program to be done much often. Anne Marie who had a land conflict with a neighbour for a long time finally got her land back after this program and she is very grateful.
According to Etienne Mugambira the executive secretary of Gikonko sector, the program of solving people’s problems is still in process as well finding people in their villages to talk about government programs like mutuelle de santé, fighting soil erosion, participating in SACCO and family planning and other programs.
Local people understanding and owning different government programs towards everyone’s development is the main goal of this program.
