Rwanda : Motorcycle thief snatched
Police in Burera District is holding a man identified as Felix Ntaganzwa, who is alleged to have stolen a motorcycle.
Ntaganzwa, a resident of Muhima Sector in Nyarugenge District was arrested on January 14 with the motorcycle in Gakenke District, few hours after it was stolen.
The motorcycle, registration number RA 004U, belonged to Anastase Nteziryayo, the Executive Secretary of Ruhunde Sector in Burera District.
The motorcycle had been stolen from the district headquarters parking yard where Nteziryayo parked it. He was at the district to attend the meeting of district executive secretaries.
After the meeting, he couldn’t see his motorcycle, which prompted him to inform the police that mounted the search which led to the arrest of Ntaganzwa hours later.
The suspect confessed to the crime, shortly after his arrest, but begged to be pardoned.
Northern Region police Spokesperson, Supt Francis Gahima said that four motorcycle theft cases have been registered in the region in the last three months in which three of them have so far been recovered.
He advised the community to always mark their property and keep receipts of property they buy to facilitate in property identification and ownership.
He also advised owners of auto mobiles to always take theft precautions and lock them, and always inform police in time to track down suspects and allocate the stolen property in time.
