The program to legally wed couples that have been cohabiting together in Gisagara district in Kibirizi sector started in Ruturo cell where about 207 couples were wed legally after these couples understood the concept of wedding legally and to live their lives happily.

In Kibirizi sector, couples that cohabit are more than those who are legally married but many have already understood the idea of legal marriage and sooner all couples in the sector will be married legally.

Some of the couple who were married in mass wedding said that this will help them trust each other more and their children will have more rights in the families.

Wellars Murekezi and Alphonsine Nyirabakeye have been cohabiting for the last 14 years and they have 4 children together asnd they said that cohabiting was fine with them as they have been happy together but also this program will increase their trust and for their children to live their lives fully with all their rights.

The sectors’ leader said that this program will not only give the people rights but will also solve family conflicts that were common with such couples. Innocent Kimonyo the executive secretary of Kibirizi sector went on to call upon other couples in different cells to participate in this program and follow in the footsteps of this cell.
